Aximac 1/5 Tablets
Generic Name– Axitinib
Drug Class – Antineoplastic Agent / Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor (TKI)
Axitinib is an oral targeted therapy used in the treatment of advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and other cancers as indicated by an oncologist.
It works by selectively inhibiting vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR-1, VEGFR-2, and VEGFR-3), which play a key role in tumor angiogenesis and cancer cell proliferation. By blocking these pathways, Axitinib helps reduce blood supply to the tumor, thereby slowing its growth.
Axitinib is administered orally in tablet form, usually twice daily, with or without food, under medical supervision. The dose may be adjusted based on the patient’s tolerance and clinical response.
Common side effects include hypertension, fatigue, diarrhea, decreased appetite, nausea, and hand-foot syndrome. Blood pressure and liver function should be monitored regularly during treatment.
