Admarib-100/150
Generic Name– Olaparib
Drug Class – Antineoplastic Agent / PARP (Poly ADP-Ribose Polymerase) Inhibitor
Olaparib is an oral chemotherapy drug used to treat certain types of cancers associated with BRCA1/2 mutations, including ovarian, breast, pancreatic, and prostate cancers.
It works by inhibiting the PARP enzyme, which is involved in DNA repair. By blocking this enzyme, Olaparib causes cancer cells with defective DNA repair mechanisms to accumulate damage and undergo cell death.
Olaparib is administered orally in tablet form, usually under the supervision of an oncologist, and may be used as monotherapy or in combination with other treatments.
Common side effects include nausea, fatigue, anemia, vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite, and respiratory infections. Blood counts should be monitored regularly during therapy.
