Sorabenz Tablets
Generic Name– Sorafenib
Drug Class – Antineoplastic Agent / Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor (Multi-Targeted TKI)
Sorafenib is an oral targeted therapy used in the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC), and certain types of thyroid cancer.
It works by inhibiting multiple receptor tyrosine kinases, including VEGFR, PDGFR, and RAF kinases, which play key roles in tumor cell proliferation and angiogenesis. By blocking these pathways, Sorafenib helps slow tumor growth and reduce blood supply to the cancer.
Sorafenib is administered orally in tablet form, usually twice daily, under the supervision of an oncologist. Dose adjustments may be needed based on tolerance and side effects.
Common side effects include diarrhea, hand-foot syndrome, hypertension, fatigue, rash, nausea, and liver function abnormalities. Regular monitoring of liver function, blood pressure, and overall clinical status is recommended during therapy.
